Features
The Soltex platform consists of a cluster of XML-based data modules. The Soltex platform consists of a cluster of XML-based data modules. These modules can be tailored according to exact requirements and integrated with existing systems and data feeds. The pre-configured nature of the Soltex modules means a solution can be rapidly developed and deployed with the assurance that the solution is robust, scalable, future proof and highly cost-effective.
A general Soltex-based solution would usually include:
- Data repository, where all the data is stored, processed and managed;
- Data input portals: e-forms, OCR systems, data feeds from third-party applications;
- Data management portal for maintenance and specialist access with customised reporting, validation, workflow management and legacy data import;
- Data output: publication sites, OLAP reports with data visualisation tools (charts, graphs etc.), data export options.
Some of the commonly requested functions incorporated into Soltex are:
Data entry
We have developed Soltex primarily as a scalable platform for collecting huge volumes of data from different sources. Consequently, Soltex offers a wide selection of means to submit data to central warehouse. More on data entry
Validation
Soltex typically provides both client-side and server-side validation of submitted records and datasets. Data providers have instant access to validation reports on data they have submitted with issues highlighted to indicate potential inconsistencies and errors in submitted records. Once a validation check is not passed, provider has a possibility to drill down to suspicious records directly from validation results, edit these records and then immediately resubmit them to pass validation checks. Automated workflow
Automated workflow module of Soltex is primarily used for scheduled data collections. Data collection schedules and plans are developed and configured by helpdesk team to help data providers with their submissions. More on automated workflow
Integration with MS Excel, Access and other databases
Excel spreadsheets can be uploaded in Soltex to create a new table or add data to an existing table in the repository. Likewise, any data from Soltex repository (i.e. latest version of all data, filtered data, any earlier version or cross-tab reports) can be exported and saved as an Excel spreadsheet. More on integration
On-line reporting
Standard on-line reports are quickly produced in a simple 5-click procedure defining columns, rows, report view type, aggregation method and filters. Reports can be subsequently saved and exported as required. More on on-line reporting
Collaboration
Since Soltex is specifically targeted at large scale distributed applications that involve data submitted and edited by hundreds of persons and organisations, we pay special attention to seamless collaboration between data providers and managers. In some Soltex-based solutions collaboration is provided as a scheduled data submission and analysis workflow with managers and data providers communicating by e-mail, telephone or fax; while other applications offer online data sharing where every particular dataset can be opened, edited and analysed by many users simultaneously. More on collaboration
Publication
Soltex platform is specifically targeted to deliver large volumes of complicated information to stakeholders and public in a convenient way. Soltex publication module supports any number of sites where all datasets and their portions can be displayed, exported and reported on. More on publication
Version control and audit
Data warehouse of Soltex is organised so that no data is ever permanently erased. Deleted records are stored and can be viewed and recovered. All historic versions are always available and roll-back to any earlier version is possible for every data record. This information redundancy allows for the concurrent modification of data by several users with further reconciliation.
Security
Access rights and user permissions are managed using Acegi Security solution with optional encryption of data records as required. All web-connections are protected by SSL/HTTPS security protocols.
